The Windy City Series was created in 2002 as a need for Chicago style housing for the Museum of Science and Industry’s new model train layout. The project manager, Scenic View, of Chicago hired Depots By John to design and supply these buildings as kits. This permanent layout and display is an operating model railroad that traverses from Chicago to Seattle in scale and is called “A Great Train Story.” The housing is showcased on an area of the layout called “Bungalow Square.”.
